The Blogger Feels Frustrated/ He Plays Some Songs/ Tries Writing Therapy

God!

I tend to hibernate in my room sometimes and this is why. . .

There is a lot of crap out there! I had this strong desire for a Burger King hamburger and so went out earlier to find one. Eight traffic lights later I was standing in the BK order area watching four very miserable human beings try to produce food for ten or twelve very irritated customers.

So I left. I discovered this new place just around the corner called Cheeseburger Cheeseburger. And they had a cheerful group inside and no waiting so I ordered a cheeseburger and some fries. I even had a nice talk with my neighbor who had also wandered in there.

And then the food came and it was. . . tasteless! I suppose it was hamburger meat but who could really say? And the fries were tasteless too. The texture was different but otherwise you could have served the fries inside the buns and nobody would have known the difference.

So I returned home and laid down for a short while trying to figure out why I’m so frustrated.

No answers. So then I decided to read Robin’s latest post in her blog Naked In Eden. She has written a wonderful series of posts about discovering a very positive mental attitude and way of life. It’s not a philosophy or a religion or anything like that.

At one point, apparently, she was running around the woods in her birthday suit having a great time. This was not here in Virginia, of course, because you would probably get arrested by a park ranger doing that here. This was in Australia. I can’t wait to read the book about her adventures in the wild when it comes out.

Because Robin is not frustrated!! She’s a very happy person and always laughing and having fun. There are some videos on Youtube demonstrating the truthfulness of these assertions.

So we are friends in any case although we are so very different. She leaves the most wonderful comments for bloggers when she reads their comments and their blogs.

I try to think of something to say and become frustrated.

I wrote a post last night that was so bad I had to get up in the middle of the night and rewrite it. But now I’m listening to the Beatles and it’s actually helping a little. Because some of these songs are so great. And we have been listening to them for forty years now.

Some of us have been listening to them that long in any case. And some of us have been dealing with anxiety and frustration for a lot longer than that!!

It’s time for a long vacation!!

But I am on vacation. . . a permanent one!

God! Is that frustrating or what!!

Tiger Woods Misses His Drive And Decides Not To Finish Round/ Tiger Woods Drama

Tiger Woods, the world’s number one golfer, apparently missed a short drive the other day with his Caddy and ended up in the trees.

Why is this news? It’s not the first time he has missed a drive after all.

Oh wait! He missed his driveway.

And then there was the collision with a fire hydrant.

This was probably the first time he ever hit one of those. The force of all that water shooting out of the ground could probably lift a car straight up in the air.

I’m just wondering if he wasn’t distracted by something.

I am reminded of the time that President Clinton and Greg Norman were hanging out together and The President fell off the porch and tore up his right knee. Maybe Greg was with Tiger early Friday morning.

Maybe Greg was talking to Tiger and the same sort of thing happened.

The results are eerily similar. In the first case you had Bill Clinton lying on the ground looking up at Greg and wishing he was someplace else.

And in the second case you have Tiger looking up at Greg and wishing Greg was someplace else.

To be fair, however, it seems unlikely that the distraction that caused Tiger to miss his driveway was Greg Norman. Maybe he was just not feeling well and he wasn’t being very careful.

What do you think happened early Friday morning to Tiger? He hasn’t said much about it so there’s room to consider all sorts of stuff. The imagination runs wild especially during a long holiday weekend .

It’s Florida after all. And a hundred miles or so away is the coast of Florida. And we all know what lies out there in the mysterious waters just east of the mainland.

The Bermuda Triangle!! That’s right sports fan! It just may be that Tiger went for a ride far, far beyond his front yard and his gated community in the early morning hours.

Maybe SOMEBODY wanted a golf lesson and they didn’t quite know how to ask. So they beamed him up to the space ship and out to sea and a fabulous golf resort that doesn’t even show up on radar or even OnStar. He was back in his driveway fifteen seconds later after playing eighteen holes (their time) but they didn’t quite get him in the right spot when the they beamed him down.

Would you want to tell everybody what you had been doing if this happened? Of course not. Who is going to believe you?

Nobody. Well maybe a few people.

But enough of this foolishness. Imagination has its limitations.

Many of us cannot imagine how difficult it is trying to live a normal family life when the whole world knows who you are and watches your every move with interest.

Raising young children is a very challenging task for any young parent. They sometimes cry or scream for no apparent reason. They are little germ factories and are often up at odd hours of the night when they don’t feel well. They will turn your life upside down without even trying.

And the journey from being a young adult to being a middle-aged parent only takes a few years. Relationships between husbands and wives can change dramatically during this time. Many of the things we enjoyed about our husband or wife may seem to have vanished.

It’s a trip to the twilight zone in short order.

We wish Tiger the best as he tries to extricate himself from his predicament. And there’s only a couple bits of advice I can give him. In the words of a former President who had a similar mishap. . .

Keep It Simple.

And in the words of the great Ray Charles. . .

Let’s go play some golf.

Thanksgiving Day/ 2009

It’s six am and still no sign of light out the window as I sit here at the desk and type a few words while headphones bring forth the wonderful music of the season.

We don’t want to disturb the guests and especially the little girl who sleeps down the hall. Or her mother or grandmother or the dogs. Or anybody really because sound can slip through the cracks in a sleeping house while the darkness holds so many thoughts and emotions within its four walls.

And they somehow settle into our dreams as we (hopefully) play across the landscapes or dreamscapes we create at night.

Over time so much of this is brought forward into the light of course and our lives take form in ways that often surprise us.

What we think and dream and carry out the door in the morning is important and I hope we will all take whatever is most important to us on our journeys.

It is Thanksgiving today a most wonderful holiday unencumbered with the commercial concerns of a nation trying to somehow gather its economic salvation together in four or five short weeks.

And there will be lots of things happening as everyone gets together for a few hours. Our relationships with family members seem so complex at times! Our families are so complex! But were they ever simple really?
It’s difficult to remember a time when they were at all that way. It comes down to moments perhaps when things seem simple.

Like now. While everyone is sleeping and Andrea is singing in my head. While the light begins to find its way into this room and one thought has a chance to wrap itself around my feeble brain.

Please God

Bless Us

One.
